Abstract
MCH (Maternal and Child Health) book is a book containing notes on mother's
health (pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum) and children’s health (neonates, infants,
toddlers). MCH book is used as one medium to reduce maternal and infant mortality
rate (MMR, IMR), in purpose of increasing family self-sufficiency in maintaining
health, preventing and overcoming mothers’ and children’s illnesses. Midwife as one
of the executing officers has a big role in the utilization of MCH book, especially in
filling out the book MCH. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship
between midwives’ level of knowledge and attitudes toward the use of MCH book and
the practice of completeness of MCH book filling in Situbondo Regency. This study
was an analytical survey by cross sectional approach. The samples were midwives
who worked in three public health centers selected by cluster random sampling as
many as 41 midwives. The study showed that there was no relationship between
midwives’ knowledge and attitude toward the use of MCH book and the practice of
completeness of MCH book filling in which the significance of knowledge was 0.092
higher than α 0.05, and the significance of the attitude of 0.180 was higher than (α
0.05). To improve Feeling Rate of MCH book, it is recommended to hold an intensive
supervision on the performance of midwives and periodic evaluation of the
completeness of MCH book filling, and regular extension of the public about the
importance of MCH book for the health of mother and child.
