dc.description.abstractThe development of language learning especially English is greatly by the use of ieveral kinds of interesting teaching techniques. One of rhe teaching techniques that can be implemented in teaching writing is 'supported ,iemonstation technique. Concerning writing as one of the English skills that :hould be mastered by the students in Junior High School, many of thr students mrght experience difficulties. It could be solved with an innovative way of. reachintr, such as using the demonstration technique in teaching writing. In this re-arcb, the demonstration technique is applied to create comfortable atmosphere t.:r the students and the teacher in the writing claSs. Further, the teacher can :.-.nduct the writing class as an interactive lesson in which the students are =..tir-ated during the.teaching and learning process, Thtq research \vas conducted to investigate the Effect of using Demonstration Technique on the Grade Seven Students' Procedure Text Writing -\chier-ement at SNIP Negeri 2 Tanggul in the 2010/ 20li Academic Year. The respondents of this research were the grade seven students at SMP Negeri 2 Tang-rul 1n the 20t0i 2011 academic year. The research respondents were Jetermined by cluster randorn sampling through a lottery. The total number of the i.-:trrndenrs was 82 students; 41 students of class VII A as the experimental group -:.:: teueht rvnting by dentonstration techni{ue and 4l strrdcnts oIclass VII C as .i-: Jtrttrtrl group that taught by lecturing techniqtre. The data of this research .,, :i:' ;olle ctecl fiom the students' scores of ivriting test. interview and the documentation. The result of the. post test was used to compare the mean difference between the experimental group and the control grotp after the teaching treatrnent. It was computed using lndependent Sample T-Test on SPSS (Statistical Package of Science). Based on the calculation, the mean score of the experimental group was higher than the mean score of the control group (64.22 57.37). The value of significant is 0.000 and this value is lorver than 0.05. This means that the null hypothesis (H") formulated: "there is no significant effect of using demonstration technique on the grade seven sfudents' procedure text writing achievement at SMP Negeri 2 Tanggul in the 2010/ 2011 academic year' was rejected. Thus, the alternative hypothesis stated "there is signifrcant effect of using demonstration technique on the gradel seven. students' procedure text writing achievement at SMP,Negeri 2 Tanggul in the 20101 2011 academic year" was accepted. The research results proved that thpre was significanl effect o{ using d.emonstfation technique on the grade seven,studgnts' procedure tg.xt writtng achievement at SIrlI| Negeri 2 Tanggul in th9 2}rcl 20ll academic year' Therefore, it is recommended to.the English teacher to apply the demonstration tchnique in teaching writing of the procedure text.en_US
