dc.description.abstract | Cadmium sensor based on 4-(2-Pyridylazo) resorcinol (PAR) has been developed for
detecting of cadmium in garlic. The purpose of development of cadmium sensor on
paper chip was to determine cadmium contamination in garlic. The advantages of
cadmium sensor are simple, easy and efficient. This sensor was fabricated by
immobilize 15μl 1000 ppm PAR and 15μl phosphate buffer (pH 7) onto Whatman
paper. The characterization results of this sensor were: the responsive time at 9
minutes; the linearity in the concentration range 1-8 ppm, with correlation
coefficient (r) =0,999. This paper chip sensor has sensitivity of 1,840
ΔMeanRGB/ppm; while LOD was 0,619 ppm and LOQ was 2,603 ppm, respectively.
The interference by Hg and Pb is > 5% at 1:100 ratio. This sensor have good
precision (3,509%) and accuracy which was 102,341%. Determination of cadmium
in garlic was compared with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) although,
the result of analysis cadmium using cadmium sensor and AAS are not detected.
However, in simulation samples result, the sensor exhibited good result in precision
and accuracy, therefore the developed cadmium sensor can be used as alternative
method for detecting cadmium in garlic samples | en_US |
