dc.description.abstract | The existence of elderly in nursing home was relatively minimal of support
systems. These conditions can affect the psychological condition such as anxiety
which will affect the independency in performing activities of daily living. Aim of
this study was determine the relation anxiety level with activity of daily living in
elderly in UPT social services of elderly Jember. Method of this study was
descriptive cross-sectional correlative approach. Research instrument was from
the ASI (The Anxiety Status Inventory) with 5 categories: non anxieties, mild
anxiety, severe anxiety, and panic. Check list used Katz Index with 4 categories:
independence, mild dependent, severe dependent and heavy dependent. The
research conducted in UPT Social Service of Elderly Jember with 96 samples of
elderly person in accordance to inclusion criteria. Implementation of the research
conducted on December 2011. Results of study showed that elderly people who
are non anxiety 17 person (17, 7%), mild anxiety 76 person (79,2%) and severe
anxiety 3 person (3,1%). Elderly who are independent 65 person (67,7%), mild
dependent 9 person (9,14%), and severe dependent 22 person (22,9%). The data
analysis performed using chi square test, obtained p value = 0,004, there is
significant relation between anxiety levels and activity of daily living in elderly in
UPT social service of elderly Jember. Suggestion for UPT Social Service of
Elderly Jember is expected to give more information about anxiety and
dependently activity of daily living as consideration to help elderly people solving
their physic and mental problem. Giving more activities to elderly people in order
improve their physic and mental health. Therefore, there should be any effort to
improve physic and maintain the independence and mental health of elderly. | en_US |
