PERBEDAAN FAAL PARU ANTARA PEKERJA PENAMBANG BELERANG DAN BUKAN PENAMBANG BELERANG DI DESA TAMANSARI KECAMATAN LICIN KABUPATEN BANYUWANGI
Abstract
The smell of sulphur fumes can affect the environment and human beings. Sulphur
mining workers are very potentially exposed to sulphur vapor inhalation, mouth
breathing and directly contact of the sulphur vapor inhalation can cause irritation to
the mucous membranes of the nose and lungs. Examination results of sprirometric by
BP4 Banyuwangi on preliminary survey, there are 60% community about having lung
function impairment with mild, or moderate restricted category, light obstruction,
medium obstruction. Sulphur mining workers and non-sulphur mining workers
clearly have differences about duration of exposure to the sulphur fumes. This type of
study are observational analytical and the design of studies that used in the study is
cross-sectional with comparative studieas approach. Technique of sampling is
Multistage Random Sampling. It takes randomly as much as 31 respondents to
cluster I, they are sulphur mining workers and 31 respondents to cluster II, namely
the local community who are non-sulphur mining workers. The data obtained is
analyzed using spearmen test, lamda test, mann whitney test. The results showed that
there are differences of pulmonary physiology between sulphur mining workers and
non-sulphur mining workers. Based on these results, it is expected that they pay more
attention to the use of personal protection equipment (PPE) in accordance with the
standards and the need for training regarding occupational health and safety.
