Language is very useful in daily life. It is one way to communicate for a person to another person. No one can interact with others except by using a language. Language also distinguishes humankind from animal in the world. Language is a system of sounds and words used by humans to express their thoughts and feelings. According to Yule, language has two major functions. The first is interactional function. It has to do with how humans use language to interact with each other, socially or emotionally, and how they indicate friendliness, co-operation or hostility, or annoyance, pain or pleasure. The second is transactional function, whereby humans use their linguistic abilities to communicate knowledge, skills and information (1996: 6) Since Language is significant in communication, it is true that every language has its own vocabulary, because it is one of the components of language and no language exists without words. Vocabulary is the total number of words in language. The quantity of someone’s vocabulary has big influence to the fluency of his speech. Vocabulary is often said as the fuel of conversation, mainly for a foreign language.en_US
