dc.description.abstractError analysis is a type of linguistics analysis focused on errors which are committed by the learners. The field of error analysis was established for the first time in 1967 by S. P. Corder. This subject is very important to be known so it can minimize the errors committed by the learners. People cannot learn language without first systematically committing errors. According to this idea, this is important to do the research on this field. By doing this research it can be revealed what kind of errors that the learners committed. This research is intended to know what kinds of morphological errors occurred on the descriptive writings of the third semester of students English Department of 2010/2011 academic year Faculty of Letters Jember University. This research analyzes the descriptive writings written by the third semester students of English Department of 2010/2011 academic year Faculty of Letters Jember University. This thesis is focused on the morphological inflection errors analysis on the descriptive writings made by the third semester students of 2010/2011 academic year Faculty of Letters, Jember University. The morphological inflection errors refer to the inflection morphemes errors in the words. In this case, the morphological inflection errors included: participle morphemes. The first research was conducted on 12 October 2011. The respondents are the participants of the Writing 03 class C of English Department of he academic year 2010/2011. Then, the second research was done on 13 October 2011. The respondents are the participants of the Writing 03 class D of English Department of 2010/2011 academic year. From 56 texts that were returned, the researcher only took randomly 40 texts. By analyzing the morphological errors committed by the subjects on their descriptive writings, we can know what kind of morphological errors occurred and what the dominant errors are. This thesis uses library research to find out the concepts relevant to the theoretical framework of the research, while the field research is used in this thesis to elicit the data. In this thesis, the descriptive method is used to describe the morphological errors occurred on the subjects’ descriptive writings. The result of the discussion presents that the subjects commit the third singular person inflection errors, the past tense inflection errors, the plural inflection errors, and the present participle inflection errors.
