dc.description.abstractLolita or The Confession of a White Widowed Male is the master piece of Vladimir Nabokov’s novel. It is a novel about the confession of Humbert Humbert of his murder trial. It deals with the passion of a full-grow, intellectual adult male for a twelve year old girl whom he calls “Nymphet”. Although he was jailed because of murder to Clare Quilty, his testimonial recounts about the history of his abnormal sexual affair with a young girl named Dolores Haze or he called her “Lolita”. There are some factors causing his abnormal sexually. First is the lack of affection. It deals with psychological necessity that he gets in his childhood. His mother died when he was three years old, making him lost of mother figure and got a little affection from his father. The other factors were the broken love in his childhood and the broken marriage. The purpose of this thesis is to prove the abnormal sexual relationship of the main character, namely Humbert Humbert. The other purpose is to prove that the relationship is caused by some factors of his experience and those relationships accounting for additionally effects to him. And the last purpose is to give contribution to the readers who are interested in Vladimir Nabokov’s works, especially Lolita. Furthermore, this thesis uses psychological approach. The psychological approach is used to analyze Humbert Humbert’s state of mind, emotion and mental condition in finding his abnormal sexuality. Besides, the method used to analyze the data is inductive method. It means that the discussion of the thesis goes from the particular idea to general one. The analysis explores and observes Humbert’s abnormal sexuality. It is ended with a general conclusion that Humbert has some abnormal sexual relationships. This thesis also applies library research. These data and information are taken from several books, encyclopedias dictionaries, and internet.en_US
