KONSUMSI BAHAN MAKANAN SUMBER YODIUM, ZAT GOITROGENIK, DAN KADAR YODIUM URIN (Studi pada Siswa SDN 03 Kertosari Kecamatan Pakusari dan SDN Tegalrejo 01 Kecamatan Mayang Kabupaten Jember)
Abstract
Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) is one of the major nutritional problems in
Indonesia. IDD is a set of symptoms caused by a deficiency of iodine in the long term.
The main cause of IDD is iodine deficiency as iodine is a raw material for making the
thyroxine hormone. IDD survey in Jember in 2007 it is known that the prevalence of
goiter in Jember is high at 23.57% with moderate endemic category. This research
aimed to analyze the differences in urinary iodine levels based on the food
consumption of iodine sources and goitrogenic substances. This research was
analytical observational by cross sectional approach. This research were done at
Kertosari Elementary School 03 Pakusari District and Tegalrejo Elementary School
01 Mayang District Jember Regency. The samples in this research were 30 students
taken by simple random sampling. The data obtained were analyzed by using the
Kruskall Wallis test with α = 0.05. The results showed that there was difference in
urinary iodine levels based on food consumption patterns of iodine sources in catfish
with p = 0.026, and there was difference in urinary iodine levels based on the food
consumption level of iodine sources with p = 0.032. Based on these results, it is
expected that the prevention and control program of IDD is further improved by the
related agencies with cross-sector collaboration in the especially education sector
targeting elementary school children in an endemic area of IDD.
