HUBUNGAN ANTARA KOMITMEN MANAJEMEN, PERAN PENGURUS DAN TENAGA KERJA DENGAN PENERAPAN RINGKAS, RAPI, RESIK, RAWAT, RAJIN (5R) PADA DIVISI KAPAL NIAGA PT. PAL INDONESIA (PERSERO)
Abstract
Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain (5S) is a culture about how one
treats their workplace properly. This is related to four main target areas of industry:
efficiency, productivity, quality and safety. Commercial Ship Division of PT. PAL
Indonesia (Persero) has the highest risk of accident due to the production process.
Therefore, all works unit need for structuring a good working environment by
implementing 5S. However, the acquisition of bronze certificate from BP2TK and the
increase of work accident cases showed that the efforts to improve the working
environment have not been done well. Therefore, the implementation effort of 5S must
be undertaken by all levels of labor in accordance with its role. This was an
analytical study, using a cross-sectional approach. The data were taken by using
questionnaires and interview techniques on 62 samples. The data obtained were
analyzed using the Spearman correlation test with α = 0.05. The results showed a
significant relationship between management commitment with the implementation of
5S (α = 0.004); a significant relationship between the board role with the
implementation of 5S (α = 0.038); and a significant relationship between the role of
labor with the implementation of 5S (α = 0.015). It is expected that the management
of PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero) could show its commitment in the implementation of
5S. In addition, the administrator is expected to provide examples of work discipline,
conducts an open discussion, 5S care information, and supervision. As well as for
labor is expected to be more disciplined in the work, provide input about 5S problem,
and perform maintenance of hygiene facilities and working tools.
