dc.description.abstractVirtual Reality (VR) is an advanced, human-computer interface that simulates a realistic environment. It can bring us into a virtual environment, which greatly differs from 2D video. VR users can move around in the virtual environment through virtual reality. They will see their virtual environment as the actual environment in real life through virtual reality because the environment created by virtual reality can be similar to the real world. Virtual reality has the potential to be a powerful new tool in the classroom. This means that this technology can bring a new environment for students to create more classroom activities by applying virtual reality. The environment presented in VR can help students to understand and creatively imagine things or environments that are not in front of them. This research used a Pre-Experimental design involving one group experimental only without the control group. The purpose of this research was to know whether or not using virtual reality had a significant effect on students’ motivation and self-confidence in speaking. The experimental group was taught by using virtual reality. The research design used was Pre-Experimental design with Pre-treatment and Post-treatment design in questionnaire form. The experimental group was given a pre-treatment and post-treatment, which was used to test students' motivation and confidence in speaking. Based on the research findings and discussion, the researcher concluded two conclusions. First, the use of virtual reality did not affect students' motivation in this 8th-grade junior high school. Second, the use of virtual reality did not affect students’ self-confidence in this 8th-grade junior high school. It is obtained that the use of virtual reality on junior high school students did not have significant effect on their motivation and self-confidence in speaking.en_US
