Early adolescence experiences a lot of changes for the first time, so they need to adapt. The changes that occur cause adolescents to be more sensitive to comments and reactions about themselves and compare themselves to others. Early adolescents are more prone to experiencing body shaming. Body shaming can have negative effects such as depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, or suicide. This study aims to analyze the relationship between body shaming experiences and stress levels in early adolescents at Junior High School 3 Jember. The method that has been used is an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. Respondents involved in this study were 297 respondents. The sampling technique used is the proportional stratified random sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire adopted from researchers Rida Putriana Sari (2020) and DASS-42 (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-42) and analyzed using Kendall's Tau C with a significant level of 0.05. The frequency of respondents experiencing body shaming is in the moderate category, namely 167 respondents (56.2%). Respondents stress levels were in the normal category, namely 130 respondents (43.8%). Based on statistical values, there is a relationship between the experience of body shaming and stress levels (p = 0.001 and τ = 0.391). This research is expected to be a reference in providing health promotion in the form of health education regarding the incidence of body shaming and stress levels in the school environment to improve mental health in the school environment.en_US
