The use of fuel oil is still widely used because of its practical and easy-to-reach use. however,it judging from the availability of non-renewable resource fuels, it is experiencing an availability crisis. Fuel oil is important in sea operations. Fishing boats mostly use diesel engines for fishing operations. Diesel fuel is usually used for fishing, but rising prices and the unstable supply of fuel have a lasting economic effect on fishermen. Concentation of seawater basically contains high NaCl compounds and a mixture of 96.5% pure water and 3.5% other materials. The presence of these free charged particles will produce an electric current. The existence of this electric current can be utilized as a source of electrical energy that is cheap and guaranteed to be available. From this aspect, there will be an increase in the use of renewable energy, because Indonesia is a country that has a very abundant supply of renewable natural resources, especially in the availability of sea water. One of the solutions discussed by the author to replace non-renewable energy fuels is an electrochemical process in seawater by utilizing a chemical reaction between electrolyte and metal solutions and implementing it in the Prototype Design of Alternative Energy to Propel Fishing Boats Using the Voltaic Cell Method with Utilization of Seawater. This method is expected to be an alternative in reducing the use of fuel oil and operational costs.en_US
