Abstract
The iron deficiency anemia is the main cause of anemia to pregnant mothers as it
occurred more frequently than other nutrition deficiencies. This research was
intended to find out the determinant factors of the anemia incidence on pregnant
mothers at Tenggarang Local Health Center Bondowoso Regency. This research was
designed as a cross-sectional descriptive one. The sample of this research was the
total number of the respondents of the entire third-trimester pregnant mothers,
numbering 45 individuals. The results of the research revealed that most of the
respondents were 20-35 years of age, moderate education level, unemployed, porrly
paid, moderate knowledge, low parity, short interval between births and pregnancy
examination (ANC/Ante Natal Care), and free from KEK. In addition, it was also
found that their nutrition sources for protein, iron, and iron enhancer were all deficit.
Also, the consumption of the iron inhibitor was classified as rare or occasional for
tea and coffee. However, the consumption of milk as the iron inhibitor was classified
as frequent. Based on the abovementioned results, it was expexted that healthcare
services remain to be improved through KIA programs in dealing with detecting the
KEK (severe energy deficiency) and anemia to pregnant mothers. It was also highly
recommended that guidance and counseling sessions to KEK and anemia sufferers is
intensified so as to prevent the anemia incidence, respectively.
