dc.description.abstract | Indonesia is a producer of palm oil in the world which has exported to other
countries. The waste generated from this production is Empty Palm Oil Bunches
(EFB). To achieve sustainable energy needs, alternative energy sources are needed
to reduce the use of fossil fuels, which are decreasing every year. One of them is by
using biogas alternative energy from biomass such as Biogas from Empty Palm Oil
Bunches (EFB). There are several stages in the biogas production process from
EFB waste, namely milling, delignification, separation, starter making, anaerobic
fermentation, and purification. This plant is designed with a production capacity of
10,000 tons/year with an operating time of 330 days/year. The raw materials needed
are 60,568 tons/year of EFB. The production process uses a mesophilic process
which is easier to control because it uses lower temperatures, making it suitable for
waste containing easily decomposed organic matter. This plant will operate in Siak
Regency, Riau with an estimated start of operation in 2026. Based on the results of
the economic analysis evaluation, it can be concluded that the establishment of a
Biogas plant from EFB waste with a capacity of 10,000 tons/year is feasible with a
Pay Out Time (POT) of 3.9 year, Rate of Return (ROR) 23%, Probability 14-31%
and Break Even Point (BEP) of 42.9%. | en_US |
