dc.description.abstractWelding is a method of joining two or more metal materials by melting some of the base metal and filler metal using heat energy. The strength of welded joints is very important in ship building construction, especially in the hull so that later it is able to withstand dynamic and static loads. In this final project research aims to analyze the results of the tensile strength of the variation of the bevel angle on ABS grade A low carbon steel with variations of the welding bevel angles used are 30°, 45°, and 60°. Tensile testing is one of the tests carried out by applying a force or tensile stress to the material to determine or detect the strength of the material. In this study, micro-observations were also carried out which aimed to determine the microstructure of the welding results. Based on the results of the tensile test, the value of Young's modulus at a variation of the welding bevel angle of 60° has a higher tensile strength value, reaching a value of 5305,618 MPa compared to the bevel angles of 30° and 45°. That results influenced by the percentage of pearlite grains which has the highest value in the micro-observation of the weld metal area of the welding bevel angle variation of 60° which is equal to 39% compared to welding at a bevel angle of 30° and 45°. This is also directly proportional to the results of tensile testing where the number of pearlite grains can affect the brittle and ductile properties of the material due to the influence of the carbon content in the pearlite.en_US
