TINGKAT DEPRESI BERDASARKAN BECK DEPRESSION INVENTORY PADA PENDERITA KANKER PAYUDARA (Studi Kasus pada Pasien Pre dan Post Tindakan Operasi Kanker Payudara di RSD dr. Soebandi Jember)
Abstract
Depression is psychological reaction to stressors experienced by someone,
including physical diseases, one of which is breast cancer. In women with breast
cancer, depression appears not only when they know about the disease, but also
appears before they had surgery and after surgery. The purpose of this research
was to know the different level of depression based on Beck Depression Inventory
in patients with pre and post breast cancer surgery at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember.
This research was analytically studies using cross sectional design. The number
of samples was 50 respondents which is chosen by systematic random sampling.
Cramer Coefficient C and Mann Whitney tests (alpha 0,05) applied to analyze the
data. Level of depression was becoming more severe in breast cancer patients
that had characteristics of aged more than 40 years old, existing in advanced
stage, also had negative perception and self-concept. Meanwhile, the level of
depression in patients with post surgery wasn’t more severe than level of
depression in patients with pre surgery (p=0,104). It needed for mentoring
program plan psychologist or psychiatrist in order to better prepare the patient’s
psychological in acceptance of the body and also increase family support to help
control the negative perception and self-concept.
