dc.description.abstract | This experimental research also called as pre-test – post-test control group
design only focused on investigating the effect of using video as the medium of
learning for the eighth grade students’ listening achievement at junior high school
in academic year of 2022/2023. This research was conducted on 17th March, 2023
until 5th April, 2023. The population of this research was all eighth grade students
in one of the junior high school in Singosari district. The participants were two
classes which were experimental group and control group selected based on the
homogeneity test result. The result of homogeneity test showed that the
population was heterogeneous. Therefore, the participants were chosen from the
classes that have the closest mean. The researcher selected VIII-B as the
experimental group and VIII-C as the control group. The students in the
experimental group were taught listening by using video as a medium of learning
while the students in control group were taught by using audio. Both group were
taught twice a week. The result of the post-test were analyzed statistically by
using Independent sample t-test in SPSS 22 computing system to know the mean
difference between two classes.
Based on the data analysis, hypothesis was needed to be verified whether
there was or there was not a significant effect of using video as the medium of
teaching listening to eighth grade students’ listening achievement. Then, it was
proven by the Sig. value (2-tailed) 0.000 which is less than 0.05. Thus, it could be
stated that there was a significant effect of using video on the eighth grade
students’ listening comprehension achievement.
Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that there was a
significant effect of using video on the eighth grade students’ listening
comprehension achievement. Therefore, the researcher would like to give
suggestion to the English teachers to use video as a medium of teaching listening.
In addition, for the future researcher can investigate the same research with
different skill, different material, or different research design. | en_US |
