An Analysis on the Use of Code Mixing in Two Maudy Ayunda's YouTube Videos

Abstract

This research discussed about code mixing that emerges on Maudy Ayunda’s video YouTube channel. The objective of this research was to find out the types and levels of code mixing that appear on two Maudy Ayunda’s YouTube videos. This research was descriptive qualitative method. In collecting the data, this research utilized documentation method. This study used a theory by Hoffman (1991) about three types of code mixing and theory by Suwito (1988) for the levels of code mixing. Then the result of types and levels of code mixing were counted by using Sudjiono’s formula. The result after analyzing the video, there were sixty eight data in the types and the levels of code mixing. In the types of code mixing, the highest type was intra-sentential of code mixing and the lowest type was intra-lexical of code mixing. While, in the levels of code mixing, the dominant level was clause level and the lowest level was repetition word and baster level.
