dc.description.abstractThe 21st century skills that are the main focus of education today are science literacy skills. Students' science literacy skills in Indonesia are still relatively low and are one of the problems of education in Indonesia. The low science literacy of students is caused by several factors, namely the selection of learning models, the use of learning resources, and non-contextual learning. The purpose of this study is to examine the improvement of students' science literacy skills through the PjBL model and describe the implementation of the PjBL model in improving students' science literacy skills on the subject of alternative energy. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The research instruments used in this study were tests in the form of pretests and posttests. Data on the improvement of students' science literacy skills were analysed using the N-Gain score. The results showed that there was an increase in students' science literacy skills with an N-Gain score on the indicator of explaining scientific phenomena of 0.66, on the indicator of interpreting data and scientific evidence of 0.72 and on the indicator of evaluating and designing scientific investigations of 0.63. The implementation of the PjBL model to improve students' science literacy skills has been carried out very well with a score of 95.24. During learning using the PjBL model, researchers and students were able to carry out each stage in the PjBL model. The conclusion of this study shows that the improvement of students' science literacy skills in the indicator of interpreting data and evidence scientifically is included in the high category and the indicator of explaining phenomena scientifically and evaluating and designing scientific investigations is included in the medium category. The implementation of the PjBL model to improve students' science literacy skills can be carried out very well.en_US
