dc.description.abstract | This article discusses the differences between the upper and lower classes that cause social inequality to arise in society which is described in the garden party and the doll's house by Katherine Mansfield. These two short stories tell about the bad treatment done by the upper class towards the lower class to show the dominant position of the upper class. thus, many lower class people do not have the strength to voice their sorrow. The theory used in analyzing the two short stories is Stuart Hall 's Representation theory which aims to find the author 's critical position which is obtained from conversations and narrative events that are shown through characters and social conditions . The results of the analysis show that Mansfield wants social equality in society whose truth is sought through print and online media. | en_US |
