Strategi Komunikasi Lintas Budaya Perawat pada Klien Multikultural dalam Setting Rumah Sakit: Literature Review
Abstract
Background: Cross-cultural communication occurs between two or more people with different cultures. The lack of understanding of the client's culture in communication will cause conflicts and misunderstandings. This study aims to analyze articles related to nurses’ cross-cultural communication strategies with multicultural clients in hospitals. Methods: This study employed a literature review guided by the PRISMA flow chart. The review used pre-defined keywords to search articles from four databases including PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and ProQuest with the aid of Boolean Operators and found 47.848 articles. The article quality was assessed based on JBI and MMAT, resulting in 12 selected articles. Results: Twelve articles were analyzed, and there were 10 cross-cultural communication strategies that nurses can use in communicating with clients. Conclusion: Nurses can use these strategies to communicate with clients who have different cultures. This is especially important because nurses need to approach clients and display a positive attitude to them, regardless of cultural differences.
