    Abstract
    The use of English as international language plays an important role nowadays. People who learn English may have a good chance of better career in the future. English for Specific Purpose (ESP) provided for those whose going to learn English in a certain disciplines. It will bridge different people with different language so that he or she can function optimally in the working environment. Teaching ESP (English for Specific Purpose) requires a certain process, one of which is analyzing students’ lacks, wants, and necessities. The results of such analysis hopefully can help the teacher to provide the students’ with certain learning material or activities. This research was conducted at SMKN 1 Pasuruan. This vocational high school was selected because the researcher found that this school did not use ESP material for Chemistry analyst students, therefore the students have to use general material in learning. The general English material is not siotable for them because it doesn’t meet with the students’ needs. This research used Hutchinson & Waters (1987) approach. This research focused on analyzing students’ lacks, wants and necessities. In order to gather the data, researcher used a questionnaire to identify the lacks, wants and necessities. The researcher used quantitative method to analyze the data. The findings showed that the students required certain learning materials and activities to improve their speaking ability. The students also needed materials with great relevance to the situation that they might encounter in the future. The students also mentioned that certain activities such as games, indoor simulation, outdoor conversation could help the students to develop their speaking skill. Hopefully, the English teacher can prepare more materials which are appropriate for them based on this research findings. The English teacher can provide chemistry analyst with other material resources beside from the textbook. This research can be the
