Gambaran Persepsi Masyarakat terhadap Ancaman COVID-19 di Kecamatan Sumbersari Kabupaten Jember
Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is a health problem that occurs in Indonesia and other
countries. The increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, the amount of
information, and policies from the Government to reduce the spread of this virus
have created a perception in the community. This study aims to describe the public
perception of the threat of COVID-19 in Sumbersari District, Jember Regency. The
sampling technique used snowball sampling with 398 participans. The Brief Illness
Perception 5 (B-IPQ5) adapted from the research of Perez-Fuentes et al., (2020)
was used to measure public perception. The results showed that the majority of
people have perceptions that tend to lead to lower scores, with a median value of
23.00 from a minimum value range of 3 and a maximum value of 50. The perception
indicator with the highest m edian value is the influence indicator, which is 8.00
(Min = 0, Max=10). The lowest indicator with a median value of 0.00 (Min=0,
Max=10) is the experience indicator. The majority of the public have a low
perception of COVID-19 and do not pose a significant threat, so it is hoped that the
community will remain obedient to the health protocols to prevent the spread of
COVID-19 and to improve individual or community health.
