Tingkat Pengetahuan Siswa Kelas VIII tentang Dampak Penggunaan Gadget pada Kesehatan Mata di SMPN 02 Jatiroto Kecamatan Jatiroto Kabupaten Lumajang
Abstract
Technology is currently developing rapidly. Gadgets are not only used by adults, but
also by teenagers and children, especially during the pandemic at that time. Teaching
and learning activities are carried out online by utilizing gadgets as learning media.
Excessive use of gadgets can endanger health, such as visual disturbances such as
hypermetropia, myopia, computer vision syndrome (CVS), and asthenopia. Excessive
use of gadgets is influenced by a lack of knowledge about the impact of using gadgets.
This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of class VIII students about the
impact of using gadgets on eye health at SMPN 02 Jatiroto, Jatiroto District, Lumajang
Regency. The type of research used is descriptive observational with the sample used
purposive sampling with a total of 83 respondents. In this study, data on respondent
characteristics such as age, gender, place of residence with parents, the source of
information obtained by students, types of gadgets used and duration of gadget use
were obtained. The results showed that as many as 83.1% of class VIII students of
SMPN 02 Jatiroto had a sufficient level of knowledge about the impact of using gadgets
on eye health with a vulnerable score of 56-75. Knowledge of each individual is
influenced by education, age, interests, experience, occupation, cultural environment,
and information. Knowledge can be increased by providing health information or
education
