The Use of Collaborative Strategic Reading to Enhance the Senior High School Students’ Reading Comprehension Achievement
Abstract
This classroom action research was intended to enhance the high school students’ reading comprehension achievement by using Collaborative Strategic Reading at SMA Negeri 1 Arjasa. Based on the preliminary study, it was found that the tenth-grade students had problem in implementing reading comprehension. It happened because the teacher only taught reading with simple and classic teaching methods, without new invention in it. However, this teaching did not seem to be effective to be implemented. It made the students were less motivated during the reading class. In addition, the students had difficulties in reading comprehension achievement. It was proved by looking at their previous reading score (72) which was the lowest among the tenth-grade social classes. It also did not achieve the minimum the school standard requirement ≥75 for the English subject.
