Paparan Pestisida dengan Status Nutrisi pada Petani di Wilayah Pertanian Kecamatan Panti Kabupaten Jember
Abstract
The use of pesticides that are not in accordance with the usage procedure can cause health problems, especially on farmer's nutrition. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between exposure of pesticides and nutrition status among farmers in Panti District, Jember Regency. A cross-sectional study design was conducted among 131 farmers using stratified random sampling A self-administered questionnaire was used to measure sociodemigraphic of farmers, while pesticide of exposure questionnaire was carried out to measure the level of exposure to pesticides, for nutritional status the Body Mass Index is calculated by measuring height and weight. Chi-Square test was carried out to analyze the relationship between pesticide exposure and nutritional status, among 131of farmers, pesticide of exposure resulted in 55.7% of low exposure and 44.3% of high exposure. Nutritional status among farmers was 12.2% very thin, 25.2% thin, 23.7% normal, 21.4% fat, and 17,6% very fat. There was no significant relationship between pesticide exposure and nutritional status among farmers (X2: 2.99; p value 0.232). There is no relationship between the exposure of pesticides to the nutritional status of farmers, although exposure to pesticides has the risk of causing more nutritional status, ie fat.therefore, farmers who use pesticides must comply with the recommendations and use a complete personal protective equipment (PPE).
