Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country with diverse flora and fauna. The diversity of flora in Indonesia has been utilized for various needs, one of which is medicinal ingredients. The community's knowledge of medicinal plants is known as local wisdom, which continues to develop in accordance with the needs of the local community. People have been using plants as medicine for hundreds of years, but the data and publications related to this have not all been published. The lack of data collection and publication means that local knowledge about medicinal plants is at risk of being lost over time, making ethnobotanical research important as an effort to preserve traditional knowledge. This study aims to identify the types of medicinal plants used by the Madurese people on the slopes of Mount Argopuro, Pakem District, Bondowoso Regency, as well as to determine the Use Value (UV), Informant Consensus Factor (ICF), methods of acquisition, processing, and use of traditional medicinal plants. The research methods used were purposive sampling and snowball sampling with data collection techniques in the form of semistructured interviews using open-ended questions. The results showed that there were 13 informants from five villages, namely Patemon, Pakem, Petung, Sumberdumpyong, and Andungsari, ranging in age from 30 to 83 years. Based on the results of UV and ICF calculations, the plant considered most important and worthy of further testing is turmeric (Curcuma longa) from the Zingiberaceae family for treating bloating. The leaflet validation results indicate that the leaflet product that has been compiled is very suitable for publication, but improvements are needed based on the comments and suggestions provided by the validator.
