Abstract
Bird's eye chili (Capsicum frutescens L.) is an important horticultural
commodity with high economic value; however, the excessive use of inorganic
fertilizers may reduce soil fertility and negatively impact the environment. This
study aimed to determine the effects of Biosaka and cattle manure application on
the growth and yield of bird's eye chili, analyze the interaction between both
treatments, identify the optimal treatment combination, and develop a leaflet as an
information medium based on the research findings. The study was conducted at
the Agrotechnopark Greenhouse, University of Jember, from August to December
2025 using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors:
Biosaka concentration (0, 3, 6, and 9 mL/L) and cattle manure dosage (0, 150, 250,
and 350 g/polybag), each replicated three times. Observed parameters included
plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, fresh weight, dry weight, number of
flowers, fruit weight, growth rate, and harvest index. Data were analyzed using
Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test
(DMRT) at a 5% significance level. The results showed that Biosaka and cattle
manure significantly affected the growth and yield of bird's eye chili and exhibited
a significant interaction effect. The combination of 6 mL/L Biosaka and 250
g/polybag cattle manure (B2K2) produced the best performance in most observed
parameters, resulting in a plant height of 65,91 cm and the highest fruit weight of
50,68 g. The research findings were subsequently utilized to develop a leaflet, which
achieved an average validation score of 81.03% and was categorized as feasible
for use. Therefore, the leaflet can serve as an effective information medium for the
public regarding the cultivation of bird's eye chili using Biosaka and cattle manure.
