Abstract

The multifunctional chopper machine is an appropriate technology used in the chopping process of organic materials such as elephant grass, corn cobs, and animal waste. One of the key components that significantly affects the efficiency and durability of this machine is the chopping blade. This study aims to analyze the strength of the chopping blade with variations in material (High-speed steel, Alloy steel, and Mild steel) and blade angles (5°, 10°, and 15°) using the finite element method in Autodesk Fusion 360 software. The parameters analyzed include Von Mises stress, displacement, and factor of safety (FOS) to determine the performance and durability of each blade configuration. Based on the simulation results, a 10° blade angle with High-speed steel is recommended as the optimal configuration because it provides a balance between stress levels within safe limits, chopping efficiency, and stable displacement. Furthermore, the factor of safety for this configuration meets the safety standards for dynamic loads (FOS = 2.3). Thus, selecting the appropriate material and angle can enhance the durability of the chopping blade and improve the efficiency of the multifunctional chopper machine.
