Pengembangan Board Game

Abstract

The age of menarche in Indonesia has been decreasing year by year, from an average of 14.14 years to 9 years. The increasingly early age of menstruation means that girls need to be well prepared by providing information about menstrual health through the use of board games. MEERA Board Game is a menstrual health education tool that has been previously developed. This study focuses on identifying the evaluation results of the MEERA Board Game. The study used Research and Development method with a qualitative approach. The evaluation process was conducted in Jember Regency, especially at Al-Furqan Elementary School in June 2025. Informants were selected purposively, consisting of one guidance counselor, one board game designer, one reproductive health expert, and 8 fourth-grade female students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and observations, which were analyzed manually with interactive analysis. The research findings identified that the content and discussion statements used in MEERA Board Game were still too difficult for elementary school students to understand. The game mechanics were also too complex and required more time than initially planned. The game's components and visual design are safe and appealing for elementary school students but require improvements in some components. The study's conclusion indicates that the MEERA Board Game requires improvements and adjustments in terms of content, game mechanics, components, and visual design. These adjustments are necessary to ensure the board game can be effectively and practically used as an educational tool for menstrual health education in elementary schools.
