dc.description.abstractThis research is motivated by low understanding about vocabulary in Elementary School students that is dominated memorizing in learning process. This research is aimed to describe the increasing students understanding about vocabulary by exploring the song “Macam - macam Profesi”. This research uses qualitative approach with descriptive research. The research subject is the 2nd grade students at SDN JUGO 02. The data collection techniques comprise observation, interview and documentation. The data analysis uses Mile and Huberman models covers data reduction, presentation of data, and drawing conclusion. The research results indicate that there is increasing students' vocabulary understanding after participating in song exploration learning. This improvement is shown through the students' abilities in recognizing, mentioning, understand the meaning, and using vocabulary in simple context. In addition, learning becomes more active, fun, and increase student engagement. Thus, song exploration can be an alternative learning media in improving vocabulary understanding in Elementary Schools.
