Abstract

One of the skills needed to build 21st century competencies was critical thinking. The efficiency of problem-based learning in improving students' critical thinking skills can be influenced by the application of 4.0 century learning with the PBL model. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills and science learning outcomes of grade V students of SDN 3 Genteng Wetan after the implementation of PBL learning actions. The type of research used was PTK which was carried out in 2 cycles. Data collection methods were subjective critical thinking tests and objective learning outcome tests. The technique of analyzing critical thinking ability data uses the percentage value formula = Σn/ΣN × 100% while for learning outcomes using the pi formula = Σsrt/Σsi × 100. The results of the study showed that the application of the PBL model can make students more active, as well as develop students' critical thinking skills as evidenced by the pre-cycle percentage results of 50.45% then increasing in cycle 1 to 61.13% increasing to 80% in cycle 2. Likewise with student learning outcomes in the pre-cycle of 22 students, there were 11 students who had not reached the KKTP of 75 then in cycle 1 it increased to 13 students who had completed the KKTP of 75 and in cycle 2 it increased to 20 students who had completed the KKTP of 75. It can be concluded that the PBL model can improve critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes.
