Sejarah Sanggar Seni Lita Mandar di Kabupaten Banyuwangi Tahun 2018-2024

Abstract

This study examines the history of the Lita Mandar Art Studio in Banyuwangi Regency. The focus of the study covers three main aspects, namely: (a) The background to the establishment of the Lita Mandar Art Studio, including the history of the arrival of the Mandar Village community in Banyuwangi Regency and the history of the establishment of the Lita Mandar Art Studio; (b) The development of the Lita Mandar Art Studio for six years, including the management period, the development of the practice location, the development of the number of members, and the development of the studio activities; (c) The influence of the Lita Mandar Art Studio on the socio-cultural life of the community, especially the role of the studio as a forum for preserving the unique culture of Mandar and as a medium for social interaction between members of the Mandar Village community. The purpose of this study is to enrich the literature on the history of the development of the Lita Mandar Art Studio, as well as to enrich scientific studies that trace the role of the Mandar Village community outside their hometown, especially in the context of art and culture. This study also aims to document the journey of the Lita Mandar Art Studio historically. This research uses a historical research method with the following steps: (1) Collection of sources, (2) Criticism of sources, (3) Interpretation of sources, and (4) Historiography. This research uses a phenomenological approach with the aim of exploring the experiences of the historical actors in the founding of the Lita Mandar Art Studio, such as the founder of the studio, administrators, members, and the surrounding community, in interpreting the existence of the Lita Mandar Art Studio amidst social change. The theoretical framework of this research refers to Koentjaraningrat's cultural theory to understand the Lita Mandar Art Studio as a form of cultural system that lives and develops in society. The result of the research is the establishment of the Lita Mandar Art Studio by the young generation of Mandar Village as a form of awareness of the importance of preserving ancestral heritage. The development of the Lita Mandar Art Studio from 2018-2024 shows an increase in community participation. The Lita Mandar Art Studio actively performs in various festivals and traditional events, making it a symbol of the revival of Mandar culture in the land of exile. The Lita Mandar Art Studio not only plays a role in maintaining Mandar cultural identity, but also strengthens the social ties of the community.
