Abstract

This development research aims to produce a Baamboozle-assisted Game-Based Learning Model product implemented in accordance with the 4D Model stages, produce a Baamboozle-assisted game-based learning syntax product validated by experts, and determine the effectiveness of Baamboozle-assisted game-based learning on historical thinking skills and student learning outcomes in History lessons. The research was conducted in class XI DKV 2 at SMKN 1 Jember from March to May 2025. Data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaires, interviews, documentation, Historical Thinking Skills tests, and student learning outcomes. The model development has undergone expert validation, user testing, small-group testing, and large-group testing involving 32 students. The data analysis used was the Paired Samples T-Test and effectiveness testing with the Eta Squared formula. The expert validation results showed: Learning design validation scored 4.67 with an Outstanding category, meaning it is suitable for use without revision; Learning media validation scored 4.70 with an Outstanding category, meaning it is suitable for use without revision; Content validation scored 4. 27 with the category Above Average, meaning it is suitable for use with minor revisions, and Language Validation obtained a score of 4.22 with the category Above Average, meaning it is suitable for use with minor revisions. The results of the user test from educators obtained a score of 4.42 with the category Above Average, and from 3 students obtained an average score of 4.61 with the category Outstanding. The effectiveness of the Baamboozle-assisted game-based learning model in improving Historical Thinking Skills and learning outcomes is demonstrated by an effect size of 0.952 in the small-group trial and 0.907 in the large-group trial, qualifying as a large effect. Additionally, there was an increase in the average score from the Pre-test of 60.93 to the Post-test of 86.56. Based on the effectiveness test conducted, the Baamboozle-assisted game-based learning model has a very good level of feasibility and is effective in improving historical thinking skills and learning outcomes of students in history education.
