Abstract

Oral health is an essential component of general health, particularly in adolescents who are on a critical growth and development stage. Adequate knowledge of oral is fundamental in shaping appropriate actions to maintain oral health. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between oral health knowledge and oral health practices of high school students in an agro-industrial area of Jember. This research employed an analytical observational design utilizing a cross sectional approach. This study involved 323 students from 2 high schools selected using purposive sampling. The online questionnaire with google form collected the data about the knowledge and oral health maintenance practice. The Spearman rank test was used for statistical analysis. The outcomes indicated that most students demonstrated a moderate level of knowledge regarding dental and oral health while their practice in maintaining oral health were also at a moderate level. The knowledge and oral health practices had a significant relationship (p = 0.001) and a moderate correlation strength (r = 0.373). To conclude, the knowledge of oral health and the practice to maintain oral health among high school students were significantly and positively connected
