| dc.description.abstract | Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. One of the most challenging forms to manage is multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). A major issue in the management of MDR-TB is the poor nutritional status of patients, which can hinder the healing process, as well as a vulnerable quality of life that is often overlooked. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between nutritional adequacy and the quality of life of MDR-TB patients at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember. Methods: This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach conducted from March to May 2025. The study subjects were MDR-TB patients who had been actively undergoing treatment for at least three months. Sampling was carried out using total sampling (N = 57 respondents). Data were collected through questionnaire-based interviews. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test to assess the relationship. Results: The sociodemographic characteristics of the respondents were predominantly male (63.2%), aged 51–59 years (33.3%), with elementary school as the highest education level (36.8%), unemployed (54.4%), without income (54.4%), and married (66.7%). Clinically, most patients had poor nutritional status (63.2%). The patients’ quality of life was assessed in four domains: physical, psychological, social, and environmental. The Spearman correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between nutritional adequacy and quality of life in the physical domain (p = 0.001) and psychological domain (p = 0.015). Meanwhile, the relationship between nutrition and the social domain (p = 0.054) and environmental domain (p = 0.350) was not significant. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between nutritional adequacy and the quality of life of MDR-TB patients at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember, particularly in the physical and psychological domains. | |
