| dc.description.abstract | The multifunctional chopper machine is an appropriate technology used to chop organic materials such as grass, corn cobs, and livestock waste. The frame is one of the main components that determines the machine's performance and durability because it supports the entire machine structure and operational system. Therefore, selecting the appropriate frame material is essential to ensure structural strength and safety during operation. This study aims to analyze the effect of material variations on the strength of a multifunctional chopper machine frame using the Finite Element Method (FEM). Three different materials were evaluated, namely ASTM A36 steel, AISI 4130 alloy steel, and Aluminum 6061. Simulations were performed using Autodesk Inventor software by analyzing Von Mises stress, displacement, and factor of safety (FOS) under loading conditions that represent the actual operating conditions of the machine. The results show that material variations significantly influence the stress distribution, displacement, and safety factor of the frame. Among the tested materials, AISI 4130 alloy steel exhibited the best performance, characterized by the highest factor of safety and relatively low displacement values. Furthermore, all tested materials were found to be structurally safe because the resulting stress values remained below their respective yield strengths. These findings indicate that proper material selection can enhance the structural strength, safety, and service life of a multifunctional chopper machine frame. | |
