Abstract
The low agricultural literacy among elementary school students is a
challenge in fostering the understanding of the younger generation of the
agricultural sector in Indonesia. This research aims to develop a learning tool
based on Research Based Learning (RBL) with a Science, Technology, Engineering,
and, Mathematics (STEM) approach to improve students' agricultural literacy
through the Fun Urban Vertical Faming Class activity. This research uses the
Reseacrh and Development (R&D) method with a 4D development model which
includes the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The subjects of the
study were 28 students in grade IV of SDN Tegal Besar 04. The research instruments
included validation sheets, student response questionnaires, student Learning
Outcome Tests in the form of pretests and posttests, and interviews analyzed using
phase portrait and N-Vivo techniques. The validation results showed that all devices
were in the very valid category, with a score of 94% for the teaching module, 96%
for the Student Worksheet, 97% for the Learning Outcome Test, and 95% for the
student response questionnaire. The practicality test obtained a score of 98% in the
very practical category, while the effectiveness test based on the results of the
pretest and posttest obtained a score of 88%. Qualitative analysis through phase
portraits and N-Vivo showed that the increase in students' agricultural literacy was
classified into three categories, namely very high, high, and medium. Overall, the
RBL-STEM learning tool has proven to be valid, practical, and effective in
improving students' agricultural literacy.
