Abstract
Water is an essential necessity for society, and its distribution in Jember Regency is managed by Perumdam Tirta Pandalungan through a pipeline distribution network. In the process of planning the water distribution network, the determination of pipeline routes is still carried out manually by considering route distance and installation cost separately, resulting in routes that are not necessarily optimal. This study aims to optimize the water distribution network by simultaneously considering distance and pipeline installation cost parameters using Prim’s algorithm. The research was conducted by modeling the distribution network as a weighted graph, where vertices represent pipeline intersections and edges represent pipeline routes. The data used include point coordinates, route distances, and pipeline installation costs. Distance and cost values were normalized using the Min-Max Normalization method to generate total weights used in the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) process with Prim’s algorithm. The calculation results were implemented in a web-based system to visualize the pipeline distribution network. The results of this study indicate that Prim’s algorithm is capable of generating a more optimal pipeline distribution route based on the combined parameters of distance and installation cost. The optimized route has a lower total weight, making the distribution network more efficient and helping the water distribution network planning process become faster and more effective.
