| dc.description.abstract | This thesis describes the development of an ethnoscience-based e-module using canva, focusing on the classification of plants and animals within the Reba traditional ceremony of the Ngada Flores ethnic, aimed at enhancing High-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) among high school students. The research addresses the need for engaging and culturally relevant learning materials, as traditional textbooks often fail to capture student interest and integrate local wisdom. The study aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of this e-module in improving students’ HOTS. The development employed the 4D model (Define, Design. Develop, and Disseminate). The Define phase involved analyzing student needs, identifying the abstract nature of biology material, and recognizing the limited integration of local culture in current learning. The Design phase focused on creating an interactive and visually appealing e-module using canva, integrating biological concepts with the cultural context of the Reba ceremony. The Develop phase included expert validation and product trials. The results indicate that the e-module is highly valid and practical, with expert validation percentages ranging from 85.83% to 91.56%, and a student response practicality rate of 87.33%. Furthermore, the e-module proved significantly effective in improving students’ HOTS, demonstrated by a significant increase in posttest scores compared to pretest scores (Z=-4.784b ; p <0.001). The N-Gain Score of 0.41, categorized as ‘Medium’, signifies a positive impact on cognitive abilities, particularly in analysis (C4), evaluation (C5), and creation (C6). This research underscores the potential of culturally responsive teaching to transform local wisdom into effective HOTS-standard evaluation instruments. | |
