Peran Orang Tua dalam Menghadapi Anak Remaja Hedonis (Studi Deskriptif di Kelurahan Jember Lor, Patrang, Jember)

Abstract

The phenomenon of hedonistic lifestyles among adolescents has become an increasingly prominent issue in modern society, especially with the growing influence of social media and consumerist culture. Teenagers trapped in this lifestyle tend to prioritize instant gratification, neglect responsibilities, and show a lack of concern for social values. This study aims to identify and analyze the role of parents in dealing with hedonistic behavior among adolescents. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through in-depth interviews and observations of parents and adolescents in area JemberLor, Kecamatan Patrang, Jember.. The results show that active parental involvement—such as open communication, setting a good example, and consistent discipline—has a significant impact on controlling hedonistic behavior in adolescents. Conversely, permissive parenting or lack of supervision tends to encourage youth to engage in consumptive and irresponsible behavior. This study concludes that the role of parents is crucial in shaping a balanced adolescent personality and in promoting social well-being within the family and the community.
