Abstract
This research was based on the results of observations on blind students who have not been optimal in understanding the concept of quadrilateral. One of the approache that can help improve the understanding is by paying attention to the student's cognitive thinking process. This research aims to find out how the thinking process of blind student in understanding the concept of parallelograms based on Piaget's stages. Piaget argued that every student will experience an adaptation process in obtaining new information to achieve balance or equilibrium, expecially for students with special needs. This research used test and interview methods. The test given contained parallelogram material questions using braille letters to find out the understanding ability of visually impaired students. The interview was conducted when completing the test questions to explore the thinking process of visually blind students based on Piaget's Theory. The test and interview instruments in this research have categorized valid (3.89 and 3.83 out of 4.00) based on the assessment of the validators. The showed that blind students experienced confusion (disquilibrium) regarding the concept of parallelograms. After being given stimulus, finally blind students went through adaptation, assimilation and accommodation so that students were in a state of balance (equilibrium) in understanding the concept of parallelogram
