dc.description.abstractThe northwestern slopes of Mount Argopuro have the potential for geothermal activity, as indicated by the presence of hot springs. The study area covers the subdistricts of Tiris, Gading, and Krucil in Probolinggo Regency, located at coordinates 113°–113.5° E and 7.90°–8.20° S. This study aims to identify surface temperature anomalies based on elevation-corrected Land Surface Temperature (LST). The research was conducted using Landsat 9 data processed through Google Earth Engine. The methods employed included LST calculation and analysis of the relationship between LST and elevation using linear regression to obtain elevation corrections. Thermal anomalies were identified using the Interquartile Range (IQR) method, and field validation was performed at the identified hotspots. The results of the LST distribution show that most of the study area is dominated by temperatures ranging from 25 to 27°C. Elevation correction can reduce the influence of topography on surface temperature, thereby producing more representative LST patterns. The results of the spatial analysis indicate that thermal anomalies are suspected to exist in the northern and eastern parts of the study area. Features such as the Segaran and Rabunan hot springs are not directly located within the pixels with the highest anomalies, but are situated around the thermal anomaly zones. Using the IQR method, 36 hotspot points were identified across the study area, with 10 points in the Tiris region serving as field validation sites. This study demonstrates that the integration of elevation-corrected LST data and field validation is an effective method for identifying areas suspected of having geothermal potential.
