Modal Sosial dalam Pengembangan Program Kreativitas Yayasan Untukmu Si Kecil di Kelurahan Sumbersari Jember

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the role of social capital in developing creativity programs at the Yayasan Untukmu Si Kecil (USK) in Sumbersari District, Jember Regency. As a community-based non-formal educational institution serving underprivileged children, the foundation has successfully maintained its operations for over 27 years despite facing financial constraints and limited resources. The results show that social capital is not merely a normative concept but is actively implemented through three interrelated elements: trust, norms, and networks. Trust serves as a core foundation, built through the accountability of the board, which maintains the trust of donors and partners. Social norms act as an informal control mechanism and instill a sense of shared responsibility (sense of belonging) among volunteers, preventing potential conflicts and supporting the regeneration process. Social networks, divided into internal networks (bonds between board members, volunteers, and parents) and external networks (bridges with academics, the local community, and the government), play a crucial role. In response to limited and unstable operational funds, the foundation optimizes its bridging social capital by partnering with campus community service programs and external organizations to secure programs, knowledge, and facilities. Social capital acts as a strategic asset that facilitates resource mobilization and ensures the long-term sustainability of the foundation's children's creativity program.
