| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common musculoskeletal problems experienced by farmers due to repetitive physical activities, prolonged bending postures, and heavy workloads. Poor sleep quality is considered one of the factors that may worsen pain intensity. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between sleep quality and pain intensity among farmers with low back pain in Kaliwining Village, Rambipuji District, Jember Regency. Method: This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 150 farmers who complained of low back pain, and 110 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), while pain intensity was assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Data analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test. Result and Discussion: The results showed that more than half of the respondents experienced poor sleep quality. In terms of pain intensity, the majority of respondents experienced moderate pain (52.7%), followed by mild pain (38.2%) and severe pain (9.1%). Statistical analysis using the Spearman correlation test revealed a significant relationship between sleep quality and pain intensity among farmers with low back pain. Farmers with poorer sleep quality tended to experience higher pain intensity. Poor sleep quality may interfere with the recovery process of the musculoskeletal system, increase physiological stress, and elevate inflammatory mediators that contribute to heightened pain perception. These findings indicate that sleep quality plays an important role in the severity of low back pain experienced by farmers. Conclusion: There is a correlation between sleep quality and pain intensity among farmers with low back pain in Kaliwining Village, Rambipuji District, Jember Regency. | |
