| dc.description.abstract | This research aimed to analyze the character values in the Pancasila Student Profile that are embedded in the conversations of the English textbook entitled English for Nusantara for grade VIII of Junior High School. The importance of character values in the textbook for the Pancasila Student Profile is in line with the implementation of the Emancipated Curriculum, which also aims to develop noble character in its nationals. In this case, the textbook becomes one of the teaching materials and learning resources for students who are the nation's next generation. There are six characters/dimensions in Pancasila Student, with each having elements and sub-elements based on the Ministry of Education and Culture (2020), among others: having faith, fearing God, and having a noble character; global diversity; mutual cooperation; independent; critical reasoning; and creative. A descriptive qualitative approach was used in this study, and selected conversations were analyzed based on character values in the Pancasila Student Profile by the Ministry of Education and Culture (2020). The method of collecting data used observation checklist and documentation, and content analysis by using the "Interactive model" from Miles & Huberman as a method of analyzing data. Based on the analysis, it has been shown that this textbook embedded all the characters/dimensions of Pancasila Students, namely having faith, fearing God, and having a noble character; global diversity; mutual cooperation; independent; critical reasoning; and creative. In this case, there are 19 conversations that contain the six character values of Pancasila Students. Those conversations are found in all chapters. The dominant character value found is mutual cooperation which is embedded 6 times. The character values of having faith, fearing God, and having a noble character is embedded 5 times. The character value of critical reasoning is embedded 4 times. Independent and creative character values are embedded 3 times. The character value of global diversity is embedded 2 times. Based on the results of this research, that the English for Nusantara textbook for Grade VIII of Junior High School is already good as a teaching and learning medium for developing students’ character because its content is in the form of conversations embedded all the character values of Pancasila Students. | |
