Pengembangan Komik Edukasi Berbasis Kontekstual Materi Ciri-Ciri Makhluk Hidup Untuk Literasi Sains Siswa Sekolah Dasar

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of contextual-based educational comics on the topic of characteristics of living things to improve elementary school students’ scientific literacy. This study was motivated by the low scientific literacy skills of third-grade students at SDN Wirolegi 03 Jember and the limited availability of contextual and engaging learning media for students. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were 26 third-grade students of SDN Wirolegi 03 Jember. The research instruments included validation sheets, learning implementation observation sheets, and scientific literacy tests covering the indicators of text, process, and task. The results showed that the developed educational comic had a very valid level with an average validation score of 3.79 and the test instrument validation score of 3.83. The practicality level obtained an average score of 3.72 with very practical criteria. The effectiveness of the product was indicated by an N-gain score of 0.53 in the moderate category, while the text indicator obtained 0.47, process 0.42, and task 0.41, all categorized as moderate. Based on these findings, the developed contextual-based educational comic is considered valid, practical, and effective in improving elementary school students’ scientific literacy.
