Perbedaan Tingkat Kepatuhan Pembatasan Cairan Antara Pasien Laki-Laki dan Perempuan Yang Menjalani Hemodialisis di RSD dr. Soebandi Jember

Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney disease is a growing health problem requiring hemodialysis therapy to replace kidney function. Compliance with fluid restriction is important to prevent complications such as edema, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders. Gender may influence compliance; however, studies comparing adherence between men and women remain limited. This study aimed to determine differences in fluid restriction compliance between male and female patients undergoing hemodialysis at Dr. Soebandi Regional Hospital, Jember. Methods: This study used a comparative quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 74 respondents, including 33 men and 41 women. Data were collected using a compliance questionnaire and assessed through Interdialytic Weight Gain (IDWG) measurements. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: Most female patients were categorized as compliant (73.2%), compared to male patients with a compliance rate of 42.4%. The Chi-Square test showed a p-value of 0.007 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in fluid restriction compliance between male and female patients. Conclusion: There was a significant difference in fluid restriction compliance between male and female patients undergoing hemodialysis, with female patients showing higher compliance than male patients.
