Grub Kesenian Jaranan Seno Joyo Desa Tlogosari Kabupaten Banyuwangi Tahun 1994-2014

Abstract

Jaranan is a form of traditional art that has developed in various regions in East Java, this art also has important cultural values for the communities that support it. In Tlogosari Village, Jaranan Seno Joyo is one of the art groups that contributes to maintaining local traditions while providing entertainment for the community. However, progress and changes in socio-cultural aspects create various challenges that affect the continuity of traditional arts. Therefore, this study aims to determine the background of the formation of Jaranan Seno Joyo Art in Tlogosari Village, examine the dynamics of its development from 1994 to 2014, and analyze its preservation efforts. The research method used is a historical research method consisting of four stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. The data sources used consist of primary sources in the form of interviews and photo archives as well as secondary sources in the form of books, journals, and documentation related to jaranan art. The results of the study indicate that Jaranan Seno Joyo Art was established as an effort to preserve traditional arts that have become an important part of the socio-cultural life of the community. Over its development, the Jaranan art form has undergone various dynamics, including variations in attractions, the addition of various performance elements, and adaptations to more modern technological developments. Between 1994 and 2014, the Jaranan art form maintained its existence despite facing various challenges, including competition from modern entertainment. Preservation efforts, such as participating in cultural events and involving the younger generation in art performances, are among the ways to ensure the continued survival of Jaranan as a traditional cultural heritage.
